Validation of non-formal and informal learning is about attaching value and giving visibility to all forms of learning, irrespective of where and when it took place. Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) has a process whereby formal recognition can be given for prior learning regardless of where or how it was gained. Learning can be gained formally from previously certified coursework, informally or non formally through the workplace, involvement with community groups or voluntary activities.
